Round Industrial Duct Construction Design

This seminar teaches the user how to use the SMACNA Round Industrial Duct Construction Standards Manual to determine the necessary construction details for the fabrication of round metallic industrial ductwork. It is based on using longitudinal welded seam or spiral lockseam constructions. Materials include carbon, galvanized, or stainless steels. The design pressures for the ductwork are within the range of negative 30 in. wg to positive 50 in. wg. Nominal diameters are in the range of 4 inch to 96 inch. The design support intervals are up to 30 ft for longitudinal seam duct and 20 ft for spiral duct. design temperatures do not exceed specific operating limits for each type and grade of metal included in the manual. The minimum gage requirements are based on a diameter-to-thickness (D/t) ratio of less than 800 for longitudinal seam duct and less than 1800 for spiral duct. Methods of selecting stiffeners, flanges, fasteners, hanger and support elements are included. This seminar will show the user how to use the table-driven process for design, with examples. Designs are based on the appropriate duct class as defined in the manual.
