"I'm Sorry, Dave, I Can't Do That": How To Address The Use Of AI In The Classroom The rise of Artificial Intelligence tools poses a substantial challenge for teachers of all subjects, including European Studies: students see opportunities to save time and effort, especially when much classroom practice appears to lend itself to the use of material generated from a handful of prompts. While institutional and regulatory efforts continue to struggle to find systemic or durable solutions to this, it falls to individual teachers and instructors to find their own way. This roundtable brings together a group with wide and varied expertise in how to think about and to address the practical questions of limiting the negative effects of AI and levering its potential for strengthening core learning in skills and substantive knowledge. Following a short tour de table from our speakers, most of the session will be devoted to exploring with the audience the theory and practice of doing this, helping to build a stronger community of practice and generating new lines for pedagogic reflection and development. | |
