Developments In EU policies and Macro-economic Governance

Chair(s): Andrea Fracasso (University of Trento)

Presenter(s): Amandine Crespy (Université Libre de Bruxelles), Aleksandra Kowalska (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University), Ester Sabatino (International Institute for Strategic Studies)

This session aims to analyse the relationship between specific EU policies/objectives - such as the recovery of a ‘Social Europe’, the pursuing of a ‘Green Transition’, and the development of a ‘European industrial strategy’ – and the reform of the EU macroeconomic governance. To achieve the ambitious goals in the new areas of policy, the EU institutions and the member states will need to reform the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP), reconsider the EU financial framework, and decide on the future of EU bonds (developed within the NGEU/RRF initiative).
