This panel presents a newly published book The EU's Response to Brexit: United & Effective (Palgrave: 2023) co-authored by Brigid Laffan and Stefan Telle. The book is the first detailed analysis of how the EU responded to Brexit and will be an important reference point for future studies of the Brexit negotiations. The authors conducted in-depth interviews with key institutional players in Brussels and in a number of member states that provide rich and original data on the exit of the first state from the EU. The book will be presented by the authors and Professors Mary Murphy (UCC), David Phinnemore (QUB) and Simon Usherwood (Open University) will respond.
