The EU has experienced a plethora of crises in recent years, some of which have shaken the EU to its very roots and have even brought into doubt the future of the integration process. This roundtable presents a new book, scheduled for publication to coincide with the conference, which delves deeply into the sources, trajectories and effects of crises on the EU. The papers in this roundtable will present, for the first time, a selection of final chapters from the book (Bloomsbury 2023). Where this book innovates compared to other works is in looking at the long-term, fundamental effects of crises, not only on policies but also on politics and institutions. Chapters include the latest theorising on crises as well a broad range of issue areas pervaded by crises.
