In a time of twin climate and biodiversity emergencies, environmental scholars are increasingly playing a bridging role between academia and society This non-traditional panel is built as a roundtable of environmental/EU scholars, both legal scholars and political scientists, who have each used their research to contribute to major exercies, from citizen assemblies in Ireland, to reports of the International Panel on Climate Change, or commissioned work from leading environmental charities, aimed at broader societal understandings of, and responses to, climate change and biodiversity loss. This panel will be used to reflect on their experience, the skills needed to move from more traditional academic research to working at the interface with policy and the public, and the changing role of researchers in and out of academia.
