How Do You Make Your Teaching ‘Research-led’?

Chair(s): Stella Ladi (Queen Mary University London)

Presenter(s): Tomasz Kamiński (University of Lodz), Alina Felder (St Gallen University), Justus Schonlau (non-affiliated)

It’s a phrase we hear a lot about, but without explanation: yet ‘research-led teaching’ can (and does) mean a lot of different things to different people. This session will explore that variety, drawing on speakers’ insights, highlighting potential pathways and pitfalls. The roundtable will draw together contributions that explore opportunities for both staff and students, starting with brief introductions from the contributors before moving to a more open Q&A structure. Of particular importance will be discussion about the motivations and purpose of research-led teaching, the mechanisms for maximising the added value of such approaches and the barriers to bringing what is often novel practice into the classroom environment.
