UACES Research Network Panel: The Limits of EUrope Beyond Brexit - The New European Parliament and post-Brexit EUrope

This non-traditional panel will consist of nine speakers, divided into three groups. The topics of discussion will concern:

• Brexit, (ir)reversibility, and party politics in the UK's countdown to 31 October,

• The rise and potential stallingof left- and right-wing populism in Europe,

• The processes and consequences of the European Parliament elections,

• Political selection of, and challenges to, theincoming European Commission,

• Theimpact of EU and UK politics on UK, EU27, non-EU, and world markets,

• The impact of EU and UK politics on domestic and foreign policy in the EU27 members,

• Revisiting and developing theories of European integration anddis-integration,

• Public (mis)trust in national and international organisations.

The three groups will be divided into "Political", "Economic", and "Social" themes. Each group will consist of speakers with academic and non-academic background. The goal of this non-traditional panel is to engage academic and non-academic perspectives and analyses of broad political, economic, and social changes and challenges within Europe in an era of uncertainty. The proposed format is that a Keynote will give a 15 minute paper, followed by 5-10 minute responses, followed by group discussion.
