7:00pm - 8:30pm

Location: City Terrace 9

Session Abstract

The Film and Multimedia Interest Group has been meeting for over a decade to promote and expand scholarship in the discipline. The political, socio-cultural, technological, and economic upheavals of the past ten years have caused dramatic changes to academic perspectives on music’s role in multimedia storytelling. This year, the members of the Film and Multimedia Interest Group want to consider these changes and what they mean for the next decade of multimedia scholarship.

The Film and Multimedia Interest Group will be hosting a session of lightning talks that consider the last ten years and the next ten years of musical multimedia. The presenters will offer 10-minute papers on ongoing research projects about music in film and multimedia. Proposed talks will be accompanied by invited reflections from the interest group’s founding chairs, Juan Chattah and Frank Lehman, who will consider its recent past and its trajectory into the near future.
