BusPas, The Bus Stop, Reimagined

BUSPAS, Canada

Public transportation, particularly bus travel, has the potential to decrease the use of private cars, reduce fuel consumption, and alleviate traffic congestion. However, it is not just the waiting and travel times that concern passengers; the level of crowding on the bus is also important. Overcrowding can discourage people from using public transportation, making passenger flow prediction an important challenge in the field of intelligent transportation systems. Accurately predicting passenger numbers can help transportation managers and urban planners better manage travel behavior, reduce passenger congestion, and improve public transportation services. Moreover, having two or three passengers on a bus is no more sustainable. We should also use more modalities of mobility like active mobility, carpooling, or others. Knowing the passenger's behavior at the bus stop helps stakeholders to better plan and passengers to better choose the more sustainable way to travel.

BusPas developed a cutting-edge smart display integrated into bus stops, called SCiNe. Fully equipped with IoT sensors and powered by battery and solar panel, collecting valuable data and using responsible AI to enhance users' experience and operators’ efficiency. It's the foundation of larger ecosystem for sustainable mobility in smart cities.
