Universal Viewer: Contributing, configuring, and deploying 1British Library, United Kingdom; 2Notch8, United States The Universal Viewer (UV) is an open-source, community-driven application for viewing IIIF content through an accessible online interface. This session is aimed at anyone interested in the UV and will begin with an overview of recent developments and future plans, followed by interactive demonstrations. Much of the recent work on the UV has been managed through “community sprints”; the first demo will introduce these and show how contributors can participate. This will be followed by a demonstration of how to configure and deploy the viewer, with participants able to follow along to create their own customised Universal Viewer suited to their specific use case. Have a wishlist of what you would like from an IIIF viewer with regards to audio and visual artifacts? This is the place to drop it off. Join an informal request for features related to audio and visual artifacts and their presentation in the Universal Viewer. Work is active on updating UV's handling of A/V resources, presenting an opportunity to gather community feedback on aspirations for presenting these materials. Whether it be transcript embedding, color-coding different speakers in closed captions, or another feature, your requests will be heard and hopefully included in a future release. | ||
