Short summary:
This workshop will equip archivists with the skills to assess flood risk, and help them develop effective mitigation strategies, using a didactic booklet “Climate Change & Archives: Assessing the flood risk in my archive”, a product of the 2023 ICA-PCOM Project. By exploring the intersection of climate change and archival futures, we will discuss the implications of extreme weather events on long-term preservation and strategies for building more resilient archival institutions to protect both archives and records.
This workshop will be of great value to archivists seeking to safeguard their archival collections and adapt to the challenges posed by a changing climate. The workshop will be more significant for archivists working in resource-constrained environments, particularly those located in coastal areas and lacking formal emergency plans. Additionally, we seek to evaluate the usefulness and understanding of the booklet during the workshop.
