Short summary:
This workshop will be open to any person who would like to discover RiC, regardless of their knowledge and experience in archival description. It is based on a game, as playing is a fun, collaborative and concrete method to discover a standard.
It will start with a very short theoretical introduction to RiC, then introduce RiC conceptual model (RiC-CM) in much more concrete terms, using an analogue (paper) card game that EGAD is currently developing and will release under a free license. The game is based on a real use case, i.e. records kept by an archival institution, their subcomponents, the agents which have created them, the institution which holds them, the dates, persons, places, events and activitites that are related to the records, etc.
By the end of the workshop, participants will thus have created RiC-CM graphs of linked entities using the card game.
The facilitators will then show, using a laptop, how such RiC-CM graphs can be represented and explored as a set of linked open data, compliant with the RiC ontology (RiC-O).
