Panel Abstract: The IMF recently launched its first-ever gender mainstreaming strategy, focusing on gender issues from a macroeconomic perspective. This session brings together feminist macroeconomists and IMF staff to discuss how to strengthen the links between academic and policy research on macroeconomics and gender. It will also consider how to bring a gender lens to fiscal, monetary and financial sector issues, and how structural reforms can further reduce barriers to women’s economic empowerment. The session will further examine how analytical research at the country level can be used to design and better inform gender-sensitive macroeconomic policy and reduce gender imbalances.
