Workshop description
Over the past six years, Human8 has been exploring the evolving needs, desires and aspirations that shape people’s lives, alongside their changing expectations of brands. Each year, our trend report returns to one guiding question: what matters to people today and tomorrow? To answer this question, Human8 conducts research across the globe to gain insights on what matters in the following year. For 2026, also visual data has been collected. We asked participants to show us their fridge and pantry during AI-empowered interviews. From this data set, 70 pictures will be available to be used for visual decoding. Manually reviewing and coding this volume of data for themes and patterns usually takes days. Our AI tool accelerates the process, leveraging large language models in a secure, walled environment. During the workshop, we’ll use our proprietary ‘Visual Decoding Canvas’ and carefully curated prompts to guide AI analysis, detect themes, gaps and even conduct semiotic analysis. The goal: to uncover what these everyday visuals reveal about people’s needs and desires around food in 2026. Here, AI acts like a “smart co-researcher”, interpreting the data through multiple lenses – from a journalist to an R&D scientist – enhancing both speed and insight quality. This approach allows us to rapidly identify patterns, surface emotional drivers and gauge the strength of each theme. The impact is immediate and tangible. AI reduces analysis time from days to hours, freeing human analysts to focus on curating insights, building stories and strategic interpretation. At the same time, AI uncovers nuances that might otherwise have been missed. Ultimately, we’ll show that AI doesn’t replace human expertise, it amplifies it. By combining secure, AI-enabled tools with rigorous research and close collaboration, we’ve got a repeatable approach to generate high-quality, actionable insights at speed.
