W_Fr_B_Room4: Components and topologies for passive EMI/EMC filters useful in conducted emissions: a practical approach (I)
This workshop is intended to give a general view of the design and evaluation of passive filters to be used in EMC conducted emissions with a practical approach in mind. First, the problem of conducted emissions is presented so attendees understand the problem to be solved including typical topologies. Then, the typical components used in those filters are reviewed: capacitors, chokes, and ferrites. Different technologies and state of the art solutions will be introduced including strategies to choose practical components for specific cases. With the chosen components, a simple evaluation of the filter can be done with simulation including parasitic components affecting the behavior of the filter. Finally, a set of simple experiments to demonstrate those techniques will be presented.
