AI, metaphors and ecosystems The Open University, United Kingdom Artificial Intelligence creates an unpredictable future for many in higher education. When faced with uncertainty, metaphors provide a useful method to consider possibilties, solutions and impacts by transferring unerstanding from a known domain to the new one. This talk will consider the role of metaphors in undretsanding the impact of AI, particularly focusing on the concept of the information ecosystem. Metaphors of invasive species and control of ecosystems will be explored to examine possible responses to the advent of AI in the higher eductaion information ecosystem. |
