Session Abstract | ||
What is a research infrastructure? How does it help researchers advance science? How do they fit in the ongoing construction of the European Research area, as defined by ministries and the European Commission? How does one build a research infrastructure in order to meet the needs of their community, while also responding to the strategic goals of science policy makers? This panel will bring together representatives of national and european research infrastructures to answer these questions, and more. We will discuss how DARIAH-EU and national research infrastructures such as Huma-Num in France and Huminfra in Sweden help serve their research communities, but also how they help meet the strategic goals set by the Ministries and the European commission. Representatives of Icelandic structures, such as the Centre for Digital Arts and Humanities and CLARIN-IS will dialogue with these representatives to discuss how they are helping to build a research infrastructure in Iceland that provides the tools, resources, and environment necessary to help humanities research in Iceland reach its full potential, and in a way that allows for integration with European initiatives such as EOSC, DARIAH-EU, and CLARIN ERIC. |
