Cultural programme: parallel offers Location: *digital only* During this time slot, there is a choice of five interactive cultural offerings from cultural institutions in Bremen. All offers are conducted in German. |
Denkort Bunker Valentin - Digitale Vorstellung der Gedenkstätte Virtual location: Zoom Bunker Valentin Please note: The workshop will be held in German language only. The "Valentin" bunker is the ruin of a German navy submarine shipyard from the Second World War. Between 1943 and 1945, thousands of forced labourers from all over Europe and North Africa were deployed here - civilian workers as well as prisoners of war and concentration camp inmates. The Denkort Bunker Valentin is a place of documentation and remembrance that offers space to engage with the history of the bunker. A digital presentation will briefly introduce the memorial, the history of the site and the educational offers. After the presentation, there will be space for questions. |
Führung Kunsthalle Bremen: Die große Einfachheit der Form. Paula Modersohn-Becker und die Moderne Virtual location: Zoom Seminar room 27 Please note: The workshop will be held in German language only. The Kunsthalle Bremen houses one of the most important collections of paintings and drawings by Paula Modersohn-Becker, the great pioneer of modernism in Germany. From her early self-portraits, nudes and sketches to her radically simple paintings anticipating Cubism, which she created under the influence of her travels to Paris and the French avant-garde, the guided tour introduces you to the work of this exceptional artist. |
Führung Kunsthalle Bremen: Die Sammlung neu sehen – von Meisterwerk zu Meisterwerk Virtual location: Zoom Seminar room 26 Please note: The workshop will be held in German language only. From the Madonna painting of the Renaissance to the multimedia room installation of the present day, the Kunsthalle collection houses masterpieces from 700 years of art history. The guided tour presents artists as diverse as Albrecht Dürer, Vincent van Gogh, Paula Modersohn-Becker or James Turrell. |

Übersee-Museum: Digitaler Rundgang Vermittelte Welt – Weltvermittlung im Übersee-Museum Virtual location: Zoom Seminar room 34 Please note: The tour will be held in German language only. The Übersee-Museum in Bremen was opened more than 125 years ago. The founding director Hugo Schauinsland dreamed of "a museum for everyone"; scientists and interested laypeople were to be equally addressed. To this end, he developed dioramas and display groups that provided - albeit often stereotypical - insights into the nature and culture of distant countries and continents. The current exhibition and mediation concepts of the Übersee-Museum continue to pursue the basic intention, but they are subject to constant social change. Above all, it is about a transparent and critical approach to its own collections with regard to colonial history in exchange with the societies of origin. On the digital tour, Director Prof. Dr. Wiebke Ahrndt will guide you through the permanent exhibitions of the Übersee-Museum Bremen. The focus is on the exhibition "Spurensuche" (Searching for Traces), which explicitly deals with the history of the museum. Prof. Ahrndt sheds light on the changes in the collection strategies and mediation concepts. She also provides an insight into restitutions of the Übersee-Museum and cooperation projects with societies of origin. |
Workshop Gerhard-Marcks-Haus: H.G. Prager und die Kinder - Eine Reise zu den Verhältnissen Virtual location: Zoom Workshop Room Marcks House Chair: Sven Trostmann, Universität Bremen Please note: The workshop will be held in German language only. The Gerhard-Marcks-Haus in Bremen is a museum for modern and contemporary sculpture. Special exhibitions on the history and present of sculpture are shown here, proving that sculpture is a living medium. With this in mind, a cooperation between a primary school class and the museum has been initiated in which children of a 3rd/4th primary school class can encounter objects by the German artist Heinz-Günter Prager on the museum's educational playground. But what happens in the process? The children's diverse encounters are documented in the form of image and sound recordings. This material will be made accessible to the congress participants through video snippets and pictures, among other things. But the participants will also be offered opportunities for interaction. In a subsequent round of talks with the director of the Gerhard-Marcks-Haus, with the primary school teacher involved and children from the group, there will be an opportunity for a dialogue exchange around this action. |
