Successfully Bringing Novel Ideas/Technologies to Clinical Use – ACMIT Experiences

Bernhard Nussbaumer

Acmit AT, Germany

There are many good universities in Europe that are researching pioneering novel technologies. However, when it comes to the translational development of innovative medical products based on these technologies, this often takes place outside Europe for various reasons. ACMIT counteracts this trend as a full-service provider of services for the creation of successful MedTech start-ups in Europe - ACMIT's mission is "from idea to clinical use".

From Science to practice – innovation from a business perspective

Manfred Kauer

EurA AG, Germany

Access to knowledge is critical to a company's survival. However, companies also have considerable internal R&D potential. Research institutions and companies therefore have different requirements and ideas. Their focus is on markets and commercialization, but also on contracts, IP, strategies and soft skill factors. In this presentation, some aspects of this will be explained and explored in greater depth.

The New Freedom in Optical Design

Simon Amann

Printoptix GmbH, Germany

3D printing of micro-optical components and systems opens up new possibilities for highly complex optical systems of an often very unusual Design. The Almost unlimited design freedom, high alignment precision and alignment-free component stacking enables new solutions that cannot be realized with conventional methods. Novel packaging methods are required to transfer the delicate print parts into protected and barreled units that can be used in industrial environments. The unique cost structure of this tooling-free additive process allows competitive pricing from batch size one up to tenthousands of units per year. We present different examples of 3D printed micro-optical components and systems ranging from fiber optics, illumination and light transfer to complex multi-lens imaging systems for medical and insustrial applications.
